In one of the FB groups I am actively participating in, I was recently asked by one entrepreneur “Ella, I was wondering, who uses a virtual assistant?”
When I say virtual assistant, I am not referring to Siri – your iPhone virtual assistant or whatever other app or software out there.
This may be the first time you find out the terms “Virtual Assistant” or you may have learned it from someone but doesn’t truly see what it entails.
According to Wikipedia:
A virtual assistant (typically abbreviated to VA, also called a virtual office assistant) is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office.Because virtual assistants are independent contractors rather than employees, clients are not responsible for any employee-related taxes, insurance or benefits, except in the context that those indirect expenses are included in the VA’s fees. Clients also avoid the logistical problem of providing extra office space, equipment or supplies. Clients pay for 100% productive work, and can work with Virtual Assistants, individually, or in multi-VA firms to meet their exact needs.
Now that you have a clear picture of what a virtual assistant is, let’s now look at who else work with virtual assistants. Almost all of successful online personalities have either an awesome VA or a superb team of VAs who does the magic behind the scenes. Tim Ferris, Pat Flynn and Michael Hyatt are just to name a few.
Here’s my top 3 inspiring women entrepreneurs who’s rocking their online businesses:
Marie Forleo has successfully built her online empire by helping other women entrepreneurs (including me) get Rich, Happy and Hot through her BSchool Program. She also gives out weekly free business tips and advice via MarieTV.
Here’s one of her amazing videos about delegation and virtual assistants filled with excellent delegation tips:
Nathalie Sisson is the Suitcase Entrepreneur. She is successful in running her mobile business whilst travelling all over the world and enjoying a life full of adventure. In 2012, Nathalie wrote a blog post about 7 ways a VA can save you. Here, she talks about different tasks to hand over to your virtual assistant to help you save 2 more hours each day – that’s 40 hours in a month!
According to Nathalie: “A Virtual Assistant is the key to helping you save valuable hours each day.” She also shared how Margaret – her Virtual Assistant helps her by saving 30 minutes a day through SEO and managing her blog.
“Natalie, as you may or may not know has an awesome Virtual Assistant called Margaret who helps her to format, edit, tag, SEO optimize blog post and then published them on her behalf. This way Natalie can focus on creating more epic content for The Suitcase Entrepreneur community. According to Natalie her VA saves her at least 30 minutes to an hour per each blog post.”
I came across Danielle LaPorte through BSchool as well and I immediately fell in love with her business. She’s a thriving holistic entrepreneur who just recently published: The Desire Map.
Danielle wrote a post entitled 49 promo ideas. simple, grand + the tried n’ true. In this post, she shared: “Get a Virtual Assistant who will help you rock your social media.”
In conclusion, all of these women has developed a thriving community and online presence with the help of amazing virtual assistants along the way. All of them found VAs who share the same vision and passion and believes in what they believe in. A VA is not just an employee. Virtual Assistants are your partners to achieve online business success.
